It was Dr Vom who stole the show with his hit song Tsaya Thobane.

With the line up included the union’s traditional dance group and Sua Pan, it was Dr Vom who had the audience at Boipuso Hall eating from his palm.

He brought the event to life when he performed his popular Tsaya Thobane hit. The song is a collaboration between him and talented traditional musician Ditiro Leero released in 2007.

The song yet again proved that it remains one of the best Dikhwaere songs even after over a decade since its release.

When the Dikhwaere singer jumped on to the stage, the crowd could not contain itself as it started dancing and singing along to every lyrics of the song.

He immediately left the stage and joined the amused crowd on the dance floor. The crowd followed him as marched around the hall chanting the lyrics.

He performed only two songs, including another Dikhwaere hit called Tlhabano before he left the stage much to the disappointment of many who had not had enough of him. However, Dr Vom returned to the stage after some hours with the same song, much to the amusement of his fans.

For quite some time now, Dr Vom has not released new music but he remains relevant through Tsaya Thobane. The crowd also seemed to enjoy the performances of Sua Pan and Western (Guitarist).

Meanwhile, the union secretary general, Ketlhalefile Motshegwa said the heritage day provides an opportunity for them to exhibit the diversity of culture in the country, including the culture of the trade union movement in an endeavour to display the inherent infusion of culture and the struggle for social justice and human rights.

Motshegwa also said that trade unions have a role to play in preserving culture.

This year’s edition was held under the theme ‘Arts and Culture for Union Mobilisation’.
