One Dead, Two Injured In Kopong Road Mishap

The accident occurred when a Toyota Corolla, which had three people on board, the deceased being the driver and two passengers were travelling to Kopong from Metsimotlhabe side, collided with a Toyota Camry that was heading south from Kopong side.

The District Traffic Officer, Superintendent Boiki Mojalemotho confirmed the incident stating that the accident occurred at around 11pm. He said investigations on the matter are still ongoing.

“The deceased who died on the spot was in the company of a woman and a man who is currently hospitalised at Bokamoso Private Hospital after sustaining serious injuries. The man sustained body   injuries, while the woman sustained head injuries,” Mojalemotho revealed.

The traffic boss said investigations have commenced to establish what transpired and who between the two drivers was at fault.

Mojalemotho said the other driver of the Toyota Camry who was alone in the car survived the accident.

He said even though they are yet to conclude their investigations it looks like the driver of the Toyota Corolla was trying to overtake when the two cars collided. Mojalemotho said the upsurge in fatal road accidents worries the police as many people continue to lose their lives on a daily basis in road- related incidents.

“It worries us as the police that despite our intervention and road campaigns to curb fatal road accidents that continue to claim lives, drivers continue to exercise impatience on the road,” Mojalemotho bemoaned.

He pleaded with motorists to exercise patience and pay more attention to road traffic signs and regulations at all times.
