The young model will be one of the international models that will showcase at King Moshoeshoe I Film Festival next year March.

More than the showcasing, it is every model’s dream to be a talent beyond their country’s borders.

This gives them an opportunity to sell themselves to the international market. Bamba told Arts & Culture that the festival is a heritage commemoration organised by Film Sector Ground Breakers Lesotho.

“It is an honour and privilege to be participating in an event of such magnitude. As a young Motswana model, it really means a lot to me and somehow makes me realise that dreams do come true if they are followed and when a little effort is put into it. Just like other events, they ran online auditions, which I decided to try out and I was excited when I was told I was one of the international and national models selected to showcase at the event,” he explained.

He added that the event would comprise a number of activities including the fashion show, market and workshop for designers and models.

Bamba also said there would be an indigenous and cultural beauty pageant and a gala event, which includes national film and television awards.

The staging of the King Moshoeshoe Film Festival in March 2020 will be a historic and monumental event for the Kingdom of Lesotho. It is the biggest event of its kind that will only be possible through a collective effort of Basotho and also with their brothers and sisters from neighbouring countries, who want to see Lesotho prosper.

“By the grace of God this is my first international event and there is more to come. Currently, I am not up to a lot of things because I am in my final year at school. After graduation, I will be mostly engaged in the modelling industry from fashion shows such as Masa Fashion Show and other gigs.  I am hopeful that I would also get signed under an international agency,” he said.

He explained that Emmanuel Kayenda and his mentor King Dintwe, who is the head of Empire Modelling Agency, motivated him. Talking about the challenges he faces in the local fashion and modelling industry, the young model said besides the lack of a governing body of the industry itself, the hustle and lack of credit of models and artists in the local economy is a great concern.

Bamba has participated in several beauty pageants and fashion shows. He also featured in television and a few billboards around the country.
