Masa Square Hotel would this year host its annual Fashion Show, scheduled for November 2, 2019. The anticipated fashion extravaganza returns under the apt theme, ‘Spotlight on Botswana’.

For a third-year running, the Masa Fashion Show continues to redefine both the local creative and textiles industries for their betterment through strengthening cross-industry relationships, which creates opportunities for growth in the fashion industry.

The hotel is set to showcase a one-of-a-kind international couture experience, which will see 13 of the country’s seasoned fashion designers hang out their proudly Botswana garments to whet the appetites of the showers.

As the hotel transforms the streets of Gaborone’s Central Business District (CBD) into a spectacular runway, it will be in cahoots for the third year with Jan Malan of Umzingeli Productions.

Speaking on the choice of theme, Masa Square Hotel general manager, Hayden Bowl said this year their beloved country has made a number of strides, in the process gaining international recognition in the media and society at large.  “Stories are being shared; both positive and negative, the underlying issue remains that they are told from a foreign lense. Masa Square Hotel recognises that the time is now to tell our narrative as Batswana.

Who are we? What do we have to offer? What does it mean to be proudly Motswana today? Hence the theme title Spotlight on Botswana,” he said.Masa Square Hotel believes in no time but the present to share the country’s narrative with the world.

Proud as a colourful peacock, the hotel magically brings to fashion enthusiasts and revellers alike a fashion show by Batswana for Batswana.   Designers showcasing this year was a cast of who’s who in the local fashion industry.

These were Lebo Merafhe of Lebo Merafhe, Tankiso Mathware Botha of Priestly, Lesedi Matlapeng of Kefseddy Designs, Candida & Wedu Montsho of DihDah, Thabiso Dibeela of Thabie D, Delayna Melissa Scott Mmeke of Delayna Scott, Ratanang Morontshe of RA-MOR Designs, Laone Botshoma of Ncagabana, Lerang Eden Keabile of Le-queer, Phomolo Polinyane and Chawada July of Amber Leigh Creations, Katlego Moatshe by Jubilee XXV and Pamela Wame Ntshwarang of Casa de Pamela Designs.

The hotel once again committed to collaborating with only the crème de la crème of the fashion world, with some new and returning faces.  Photographer David Billboard captured all images for the Spotlight in Botswana campaign.

“As a business first luxury hotel, we understand the importance of highlighting the unique, relevant, robust story of our beloved country that is authentically US. We wish to shine the spotlight on Botswana’s inherent passion and talent in the Fashion and Creative industry. The time is now!” Bowl said.
