South African artists still disrespect Batswana

The disrespect did not stop at that.  Another SA performer, Black Motion, who came late on Sunday morning at the event threatened to throw local star, Charma Gal, off the stage.

While Charma Gal’s performance was getting heated up, the manager of Black Motion began putting up their musical instruments on the stage disrupting Charma Gal’s performance in the process.

Out of frustration, the house group took to their car and threatened to vacate the stadium.  There were unconfirmed reports indicating that Black Motion’s car was attacked because the crowd did not want them to leave without performing.

However in an interview with Showbiz, the event-marketing manager of Dladleng Entertainment, Mabitso Kesenye said Black Motion’s car was not attacked.

“They threatened to leave because we couldn’t let them interfere and cut Charma Gal’s performance short,” he said.

Kesenye said Black Motion decided to come back and perform their four songs because the situation was not looking good for the SA group.

Kesenye said initially they went to pick up the group at the border at around 11am and headed straight to President’s Hotel to check in. “We told them we have to head straight to Jwaneng, but they insisted on freshening up first,” he said.

Kesenye said they arrived in Jwaneng late at 3am on Sunday morning with Black Motion insisting on taking the stage right away.

“We couldn’t allow it because we remain with our local artists after these artists leave,” he said.

As for why Naak Musiq did not show up, Kesenye said they have not received any explanation from the manager as yet.

“Naak Musiq has a tendency to not show up for music festivals,” he said.

Kesenye said they had to wait for the artist at the airport, but he was nowhere to be seen.  He said they had already paid the artist upfront, but it is going to be difficult for them to get their money back.
