Poor attendance at the Bon Fire Camp Out

The venue, added to the festival woes since was difficult to find and was not easily accessible for certain vehicles.  Moreover, most people did not arrive for the desert race until Saturday morning.

Despite the event being dubbed ‘Bon Fire Camp Out’ there was no bon fire in place and the few people who were there had to gather around the smaller fires that were not even a metre tall. There was a long session of DJ performances and the only artist to perform on stage was African Roots.

Despite performing to an unusually low audience, African Roots did their best to make the night worthwhile for the few who had paid to see the group in action. Their live performance was engaging and managed to pull people from the smaller fires towards the stage. They wrapped up the event by performing the people’s favourite song called Ko Morago.  They were not the only ones who were top notch, DJ Shimza was also there to usher people into the dawn of Saturday.

His song Akulawa was a favourite for the audience and they could not help but appreciate the massive talent that the DJ has. Being regarded as one of the best mixers in SA, DJ Shimza’s session was the one to die for.

Despite the event being unsuccessful at the first attempt, the hope is that it might come back next year with huge improvements in terms of timing and location.
