Revellers had already had enough of the dust and engine sounds for the day needing something to take them through the night.  It would seem that local artists were exactly what the doctor prescribed.

Every good festival has to be set on fire by DJs and indeed they managed to bring warmth upon Jwaneng stadium.

The youthful DJ Guyvos of Btv’s FlavaDome was among the right men for the job.  Having released his international single entitled Zumba lately, it was a perfect opportunity to re-introduce the song to the larger crowd.

The showcase of the new dance of the same name made his session even more energetic. Other DJs like DJ Kenzo, DJ Gouveia, DJ Sly, DJ Shaboo, DJ Chrispin, DJ Kuchi, DJ Chabo, DJ Daveboy, DJ Phouboy and DJ Anthem also made the night worth braving the winter cold.

Among the top performers on the day was ex-convict and traditional music giant, Ditiro Leero who reminded the crowd that there is more to Setswana than they already know.  The artist performed songs from his previous hits like Mme Mpeola Ditedu, Bokgarebe.  Performing alongside Kgwasimo of Tinto fame, Ditiro started his session with a long and beautiful dance routine. He also sang some snippets of his previous hits as acapella versions.  Morwa Leero as they usually call him performed songs like Bana Baga Mme Botlhe from his new album Maganamokgwa.

The award-winning kwaito group MMP Family hit the stage to the delight of the fans in Jwaneng Council Stadium.  They performed their well-known hits like Makheneke, Problem-child, Mogolo Lapeng and the audience sang along in unison.  Saving the best for last and they wrapped their performance up with their hit Lebala Ka Nna.

The night was only getting younger when Team Distant came on stage to heat up the night with their lively instruments.  While their session lasted for close to an hour, the talented house group kept things going for the crowd.

The continuation of live performances was the best aspect of the show and Charma Gal came on stage to stamp her authority once more. Besides Black Motion attempting to disturb her performance, the former Culture Spears member showed that she is even better in live.

The organisers of the event managed to give local artists more stage time and the reward was massive.

This year’s attendance has increased certifying Dladleng Desert Music Festival as a popular destination for desert race revellers.
