No suspects yet in IHS exam leaks

The Ministry of Health (MoH) issued a press release announcing that assessment papers leaked include those for courses NUR 243 (Child Health Nursing) and PHS 345 (Introduction to Research).

“The leak affects second year and some third year students.

The results for these courses are nullified. An arrangement is being made for the affected students to re-sit for these courses within this month,” reads the statement.

The ministry’s public relations officer, Doreen Motshegwa told Mmegi that, “We cannot at this point, point to anyone as a suspect.

There is a process from the setting of the assessment papers to storing of those papers.  We are hopeful that investigation will lead us to the culprits”.

Motshegwa added that they are not yet sure when the leakage occurred, but it was detected at the seating of one of the academic boards.

She said they assume that the incident happened at all six public health schools save for Bamalete Lutheran School of Nursing.

She insisted that the incident was a first of its kind. About 304 students are expected to re-sit for both affected courses.

To prevent future occurrence, Motshegwa said some of the measures they have employed include the regulations and assessment papers that clearly define and guide how assessment should be handled, such as standards for security.
