The festival is scheduled to start at 10am and end at 9pm. In an interview with Showbiz, BODANSA public relations officer Ishmael Mhotsha said the dance competition will target the youth including children from the age of five years.

He disclosed that the dance competition will be divided into different sections.

Mhotsha noted that dancers will participate in four different types of dance that is Latin, Standard and House and Hip Hop.

“This year’s competition will be different because we will be introducing the category of the rising stars,” he said.

He said couples and individuals from different places around the country and more than 15 clubs have registered with them.

“The dance competition is open to everyone. The registration for the open medal section is P80; open section is Pl00 and P120 for the formation. Entrance fee for children is P20 and P30 for adults,” he said.

Mhotsha said the competition will attract potential sponsors to help grow the association because currently BODANSA has few sponsors. “The event will be sponsored by Tla-ka-Tshethe Company for decorations and the Botswana National Sports Commission,” he said. He urged media houses to be part of the event because it is their responsibility to raise awareness of current affairs and bring the dance sport to the people. He added that through the joint efforts of different stakeholders they could develop the country and hence make dance sport known to the public.

Mhotsha said the winners at the championship level will be selected for the national team. He said champions will also be rewarded with certificates, medals, trophies among others.
