While the main race officially kicks off on Saturday, festivals and various activities are in full swing as early as tomorrow.

The fun of motorsport has never shied away from entertainment therefore revellers will be digging up the mining town for any sort of fun especially in the late hours.

It is illegal to come up with any sort of activity during this period therefore the Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) has already permitted certain festivals to take place during this time.

Obviously there are others who will go out of their way to create their own definition of fun but the BTO has indicated that Botswana Police Service will be there to close down any unparallel activities.

No one can ever be short of any fun, and tomorrow people will start Tebelelo ya Mantshwabisi (Mantshwabisi vigil) with the Bonfire Campout festival.

The event will feature South African house group African Roots of Ko morago fame and they will pull back anyone who does not promote Jwaneng night life.

Monate Khokho organises the event and it will be held at Gare’s Farm (opposite Sese and Jwaneng).

The local line-up has already been assembled and it includes King, Tosh Thavino, Unanimous1, Makheno Big Souls, Deco, Gapisto, Lady K, Lerofo, Davebouy, Mabb, Captain Dira, Ephesians 5, Girly, Chef Gustos, Duke Mantes, Teaz, Mokgoro, Hlomela 5, and Lexx.

Bonfire entertainment is growing in Botswana and this year’s Bonfire campout will provide a genuine way of bringing together different communities at one go.

More festivities will spill onto Saturday and among the biggest ones is the return of the Dladleng Entertainment Centre’s Desert Music Festival.

The event is held annually at the Jwaneng Town Council Stadium and headlining artists on the main stage are Black Motion and Naak Musiq from South Africa.

People are expecting sparks from the festival after Kelly Khumalo set the standards last year with her Asine moment.

All eyes will be on Black Motion who will attempt to make the night colourful with their song Rainbow. No one can predict what the Fortuneteller hitmakers will bring to stage and all people can do is wait. Naak Musiq is set to enhance the line-up with his amazing hits.

The Call out singer who is also a television actor will attempt to turn things around for the diverse crowd at the festival.  The fun does not stop with the international artists but local artists like MMP Family of Lebala ka nna fame will return again to the same stage where they sent fans to cloud nine.

After activating the Desert race this weekend at the activation, Charma Gal will take her Sekuta into the real dust of the desert race festival.  The action will attract more artists like Ditiro Leero, ATI, Team Distant, Mosako and Skizza. The line-up of DJs include DJ Sly, DJ Goveia, DJ Shaboo, DJ Chrispin, Chrispin The Drummer, DJ Kuchi, NT Base, DJ Chabo, DJ Stranger, DJ Otis, DJ Kenzo, DJ Kenn, DJ Daveboy, DJ Phouboy, DJ Lucy, DJ Ngwazi, DJ Guyvos, DJ Deco and DJ Anthem.
