Investors dump cash-strapped Motlakase

The running of the team has been left in the hands of the technical committee and some senior players, after the management could not continue.
Motlakase chairperson, Gaolatlhe Kelesitse said they are ready to handover the cash-strapped club, to interested parties.
The club’s woes were exacerbated by the delayed First Division grants.
Kelesitse said the grants covered the team’s travel expenses in the past seasons. “We are in a crisis. There is no funding. People have put their money in the game for several years, but there is no output.”
“The current owners of the club have done their part. They are looking for young creative leaders and sponsors to take the club to the next level. They still aid us whenever possible but they are ready to hand over the baton,” he added.
Coach Mothusi Seditse described the current state as ‘appalling’.
He said the last time players received their ration of groceries was back in July during the pre-season preparations.
He said players do not have equipment and are failing to turn up for training due to lack of transport fares, amongst others. He said they hardly make desired numbers at training.
Because of the dire situation, Seditse said he had to change their training schedule to morning sessions so that the players could find jobs to fend for themselves during the day.
“I can’t say there is a discipline problem in the camp. I understand the players struggle and the sad thing is the club management is nowhere to be found amidst these challenges. Players are basically running the club,” he said.
Seditse said they have honoured the past four fixtures, thanks to the players’ commitment. Motlakase drew their first three games and lost the next to Sua Flamingoes.
“The boys need a little support and they can deliver. They have proven their worth in the past matches. We outplayed our opponents, it is only that under the current situation we can’t expect results.”
Chouka host rookies, Maun Terrors at Palapye Swallows on Saturday. Leaders Nico United will be home to Calendar Stars. Sua Flamingoes travel to Francistown City Greens, Eleven Angels host rookies Tonota United.
On Sunday, Sankoyo welcome Santa Green in Maun and Great North Tigers will battle Green Lovers in Francistown.
