The show dubbed ‘Khoisan Goes Live’ will be held at Maitisong Theatre.  Signed under Roc Lefatshe Records, the then five-member group has now trimmed to just two, Oratile Kofa and Thabang Rasefako.

The group has been dominating the local airplays with their debut singles Marebele and Sananapo.

Their untitled debut album will be released on February 20, 2020 while it will be available for pre-orders on iTunes in January.

Speaking to Arts & Culture this week, Roc Lefatshe Records’ executive producer, Suffocate said Khoisan has featured South African artist, Bekezela and local singing sensation Han-C on the upcoming album.

“The album is coming on February 20. You are going to hear the album at the show, get the feel of the whole album.

The crowd will hear switches from the Afro jazz, Afro pop, Afro house just a complete feel of the whole album. The album has been complete for two months now so we just finished some logistical part of it before releasing,” he said.

Suffocate added the upcoming event will be Khoisan’s first ever solo event and they are planning to do it every year. He said Khoisan is like a year-old in the industry and as Roc Lefatshe Records they were grateful that Batswana have supported them this much and given them the confidence to try something like this.

“It is that kind of event that you would want to go, wind down and enjoy some good music,” he said.

Suffocate, however, admitted that the group was still at its infancy in the industry, but said they were under good pressure to make an album as per demand from the fans.

“People are craving for this project, so we felt the need to release the Khoisan album. In this industry, we look at the demands on the ground because we need to be sure that we will sell since it is costly to make an album.

But on February 2020, we might release all the albums we have here (at Roc Lefatshe Records). Motlha’s album has long been overdue so we might release it; Double-Up’s project is done.

There is also a gospel artist, Cassie and we may release her album too,” he said.

Khoisan is to release a single titled Ramathuba featuring Han-C later this month while another single titled Madlozi featuring Crispin the Drummer will be released next month. The Ramathuba video will also be released next month.

Tickets are selling at P250 and the duo will be performing alongside fellow label mates, Motlha and Double-Up of Tontobeletsa fame together with Han-C.
