It was a free show and families came to start the festival in style.  Various sponsors and stakeholders attended to bring their merchandise and services ahead of the race in the coming weekend.

DJ Lexy J was the only man on the decks and he formally triggered the fun for revellers. Motswako lyricist, Dramaboi was the first artist to perform on the day and he lit up the stage with his hit Candy, which caught everyone’s attention. He also performed songs like Utlwa, Bob Marley, Mahala and Mosutele.

When people heard the song Sala Le Nna on the speakers, they expected to see Dramaboi’s younger sister Katlego emerging from the backstage like usual, but this time around the Makeishane rapper had to do the performance without her.

Next on the stage was Sereetsi & The Natives and they kickstarted their live performances with soulful sounds oozing from their instruments. While everyone waited for their favourite track, Sereetsi & The Natives performed Thaa Kokome before sealing their performance with Robete. Though she was not at her usual best, Mpho Sebina came up next to keep the busy day going.

The crowd’s favourite on the day, Charma Gal had revellers on their feet as soon as she arrived on stage. She was the first artist to bring the crowd closer to the stage when she began her performance with the song Sefofane. While her dancers were on top of their game, Charma Gal did her best to keep up.

While she managed to perform popular songs among others Mosepele Wa Lorato and Matebele, people were eagerly anticipating a Sekuta performance.

She did not disappoint and as the song was reaching climax, Charma Gal danced a popular dance move called tlhomela to the appreciative crowd.

Her dancers were full of life and they even joined the crowd to ignite a euphoric atmosphere within the Piazza. As soon as Charma Gal exited the stage, another hot performer, Vee arrived to seal the event.

To close the festival was Vee, who indeed was the right man for the job.

With his dancers lively dancing, Vee performed many of his hit songs from the last decade.  Though he teased the audience with snippets of his popular songs, the Letlhale hitmaker had everyone’s attention.

In between his performances, Vee allowed artists from his Black Money Makers record label to shine. Mingo performed his latest single Somewhere before Figos did his part on the stage. The MC of the day was T.H.A.B.O and he reminded the crowd of what’s to come when he invited two of the desert racers to rev their Sedimasters.

The roaring sound of the competing cars was enough to officially unleash the desert race vibe.
