The champions from both sections will pocket P75,000 up from last year’s P60,000. The runners-up will receive P40,000, an increase of P10,000.

Teams that finish third will get P28,000 up from P25,000 while number four receives P23,000, increased from P20,000. Number five will receive P18,000 while number six gets P12,000 up from P15,000 and P10,000 respectively.

The last two positions, seventh and eighth get P10,000, improved from last year’s P8,000.

The Most Valuable Player will receive P2,000, while best slugger and best outfielder get P1,500 each.

A tight contest is expected this year as the men’s defending champions, BDF IX look to make amends after their softball dominance was brought to a halt by blood rivals, Wells, who were recently crowned the BoFiNet Champions.

“Competition is going to be intense this time around,” said Oeme Morupisi, a member of the local organising committee.

“Wells owe BDF IX after wrestling the BoFiNet championship and this is a platform to show their win was not a fluke, while BDF IX still believe they are the powerhouse.

We are expecting a fierce battle whenever these two meet,” he said.

The extravaganza’s eliminators are scheduled for the first week of July. The northern zone eliminators will be held in Maun and the venue for southern zone eliminators has not been confirmed.

Morupisi said preparations for the tournament are well underway.

“Preparations are ongoing and I can assure this year’s extravaganza edition is going to be bigger and better as always.”

BDF IX and Dinare automatically qualify as defending champions while Comets qualify as hosts.

Komatsu and Bridgestone are the main sponsors of the tournament.
