Formula Two aim to defend fours title

The team has been left depleted due to the absence of Sidwell Gaborone and Kefilwe Moleleki. The only remaining players who were part of the winning team were Mmoloki Ookeditse and Juliet Mokoko.
The side faces stiff challenge from Gaborone B and Jwaneng A. Gaborone performed well at a tournament that was held in Jwaneng a few weeks back. On the other side, Jwaneng A team is made up of experienced players who have represented Botswana in international competitions.
The two sides are expected to give Formula Two a run for their money. Gaborone Bowls Club secretary, Marea Modutlwa told Mmegi Sport preparations for the tournament have been going well and everything is set for the weekend.
“We could not secure sponsorship for this year. Ten teams have confirmed their participation,” she said.
Teams that will compete are Gaborone, Jwaneng, Phikwe, Orapa, Francistown and Mahikeng (South Africa). Ookeditse of Formula Two said they are ready to defend their title. He said the absence of Moleleki and Gaborone would not affect their plans.
“We have made some replacements and included Philip Toteng. He is a new player so this is his first opportunity to prove himself. Lebogang Dikhupe is also in the lineup,” he said.
Ookeditse said they would not be intimidated by other teams especially Jwaneng. For his part, Remmy Kebapetse of Jwaneng B team-Desert Dwellers said they are ready for the tournament.
“We are fresh from a tournament that we hosted a fortnight ago. We just have to continue where we left off,” Kebapetse said. Desert Dwellers are also depleted, without Regent Reid and Boikhutso Mooketsi who are currently playing in Champions of Champions in Australia.
Kebapetse said they have a strong line up including Sharon Sesupo who would be playing her second tournament. The other team members are Carlos Tigere and Kabelo Ngwako.
“Sesupo started playing bowls in September and we want to give her exposure. We are aware that Formula Two is a threat but we are going to use our experience to beat them. We have done that before in previous tournaments,” he said.

Team Thakadu: Tim Morton, Ivy Morton, Grace Kamba and Kenanao Sebonego. Team Boom Shaka Laka: Tim Machisa, Modutlwa, Andy Ashbridge and Lucky Nkabuli
Team Lady Diana: Lebo Makhupe, Shenilla Mahomed, Troy Davids and Auleria Fuller
Team Mafikeng Warriors: Ryno Vester, Wally Bremmer, Basha Motsei and Betty Mabeza.
