Witchdoctor held over ritual murder

There is another twist to the story, the Moremi Police officer is said to have been unpopular in the village as he gave cattle rustlers a torrid time.

The Monitor gathers that during his stint the departed Olopeng fought  cattle rustling with enthusiasm, and had managed to nab a syndicate that had stolen 18 herds of cattle in the area.

According to The Monitor sources, the cattle rustling syndicate involved big people within Moremi and the neighbouring villages, all of whom allegedly wanted Olopeng out of the way.

The case is likely to open a can of worms after the first suspect in the case allegedly told investigators that the witchdoctor had been involved in a string of missing people in the area over the years.

According to information gathered by The Monitor yesterday, the witchdoctor’s accomplice revealed how Olopeng was murdered for body parts harvesting, which also involved several high profile people in the region.

The accomplice allegedly also told the Police how the witchdoctor traded in harvested body parts and that his clients extend to South Africa.

Investigations show that a chibuku delivery truck driver had told the police that he had given Olopeng a lift and dropped him at the Moremi Tamasane junction.

It is that piece of information that led the police to narrow their search to Moremi village.

Palapye police were not immediately available for comment at press time.
