Notwane sticks with Mushangazhike despite permit issues

Mushangazhike was appointed in the off-season, but Botswana Football Association (BFA) rejected his appointment as he holds a CAF B licence.
A regulation by the BFA says only local coaches can take to the technical bench with CAF B licence while expatriates are required to have a CAF A licence.
However, speaking to Mmegi Sport, Notwane public relations officer, Mogomotsi ‘Ace’ Orapeleng said the team is sticking with the 44-year-old coach as they await a response from the BFA.
He also shot down allegations that the coach is on his way out after a string of poor performances by the team.
“That’s news to us and unfounded. We haven’t received a letter on this matter,” he said.
Notwane has since roped in Oupa Kowa as a stand-in coach. Quizzed on the remunerations for Mushangazhike, Orapeleng was coy with the details.
“You can only pay someone who is your employee. Remember we were in the process of employing him (Mushangazhike), so when all these surfaced we brought in Oupa Kowa, who has been in charge in our past games,” he said.
Meanwhile, Notwane’s appeal to reverse the decision on their points deduction, has been postponed. The club appealed the First Instance Body’s (FIB) decision to dock the team six points for failing to meet the Club Licencing requirements.
The club, together with Gilport Lions last week, sought leniency from the FIB, but have to play the waiting game as the Appeals Board postponed their hearing last Thursday.
“We met with the Appeals Board last week for our appeal, and the matter was postponed until further notice, so we are still waiting to hear from them,” Orapeleng said.
Notwane is at the bottom of the log and their next league assignment will be away to Orapa United on November 27, 2019.
