Santa Green dumps suspended Sephata, hires Masobe

Sephata was suspended indefinitely a fortnight ago, with chairperson, Mugove Chiwita citing a dressing room fallout with the players and a strained relationship with the supporters.
Sephata was surprised when he learnt the club had hired a new coach under his nose midweek. Sephata said he had requested for the suspension letter last week Friday and was waiting to be served.
“They (club) had promised I would receive the suspension letter only to learn from social media that they have hired a coach. I called the president and he confirmed,” the shocked Sephata said.
He added he did not know the reasons for his suspension and consequent sacking.
“I thought I was going to be called for a hearing at least but that has not happened, so there is nothing to expect going forth apart from moving on.”
Chiwita confirmed the hiring of the new coach.
He said they concluded investigations and they could not continue working with the former coach. He highlighted they worked on a mutual agreement.
“We have reached a point where we have to part. We informed our former coach, our agreement was verbal and we notified him verbally,” he said.
The Veggies new coach’s first assignment will be a daunting task against table-toppers Sua Flamingoes.
He inherits a team that has not won at home since the beginning of the league. Jetta, however, is focused on hitting the ground running on his new challenge at The Veggies. The former BR Highlanders assistant coach is worried about the position of his new side.
Having followed the side in a series of matches, he reckons the players’ mental strength was melting.
With three matches to the end of the league’s first round, he said they needed to grind results.
“In the short term, we need to grind maximum points from our last three matches.
The rest we will make a new plan in the January break. The target is to finish in the top bracket at the end of the season,” he said.
In other First Division North games on Saturday, Green Lovers take the long trip to Sankoyo Bush Bucks, Francistown City Greens host struggling Motlakase Power Dynamos.
Calendar Stars plays Tonota FC in Francistown. On Sunday, Nico United welcomes Great North Tigers, and Eleven Angels will be at home to Maun Terrors.
