Moloi, Mogaladi linked with Chiefs role

Masire was roped in as assistant coach to Oris Radipotsane at the start of the season.
The duo led Magosi to a four-game unbeaten start before Radipotsane joined BTC Premiership side, Jwaneng Galaxy.
Masire took over as head coach on an interim basis and guided Chiefs to their first defeat of the season. He assumed his role as the assistant coach when Elias Chinyemba joined the team as head coach last month.
Speaking to Mmegi Sport, the club’s public relations officer, Mpho John Marumo could not disclose the reasons for the coach’s departure saying it was an internal matter.
“We have parted ways with Edwin Masire for reasons we would not want to say to the public, to protect both coach and the club. The management lauds Masire for his work here, he has been here for a long time doing a brilliant and passionate job,” he said.
“He has played for the team and he was once a manager. We did not part on bad terms but for reasons before the executive committee we had to go separate ways. We just plead with Magosi fans to stay calm as we seek a replacement.”
The team has begun the search for an assistant and reports link its former captains, Michael Mogaladi and Pontsho Moloi to the job. Moloi is currently an assistant coach at Extension Gunners. He once held the position at Chiefs before joining Gunners. Mogaladi was also an assistant coach at Chiefs, Notwane and Sharps Shooting Stars (now Molepolole City Stars).
The two young tacticians are said to be the frontrunners for the Chiefs job but Marumo was mum on the link.
“We have not yet found a replacement. The search has just begun, we are looking for coaches anywhere we can. I cannot say we are looking for a specific person, but there are conditions to the job.
There are a lot of things to look at before we can hire anyone, at the moment I cannot say names or anything but we are looking for an assistant coach,” he said.
Chiefs meanwhile ended a four-game winless streak on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Red Sparks. Magosi are in fourth spot with 15 points, nine behind leaders, Mogoditshane Fighters.
Magosi round off the first round games with a clash against Uniao Flamengo Santos at the Eastern Pirates grounds. In other games, Matebejana welcome Mochudi Rovers at the Fighters grounds while Black Forest play Holy Ghost at the Forest grounds.
Log leaders, Fighters will want to maintain their winning form when they visit Broadhurst United at the SSG grounds while struggling Jwaneng Fighters will be away to Red Sparks at the Red Sparks grounds.
In an 8pm tie, second-placed Masitaoka host Ncojane Young Stars at the Molepolole Sports Complex. All the afternoon games kick off at 4pm.
