Leburu hoists Botswana flag high

Leburu was crowned the winner of the Little Miss Model International, which is the award for the best model amongst all contestants and has also scooped the Little Miss Africa award, which was a continental award given to the best contestant in Africa.
“I feel so happy and excited to have been crowned Little Miss Model International and Little Miss Africa.
I am so proud about myself, it is amazing to have beaten all contestants from other countries and it has also made my parents proud since they really supported me to go for this competition.
To me the achievements are a result of my hard work, it shows my hard work has finally paid off.”
“I have learned that you should never give up no matter how many times you fail. I have also learnt that the international pageants are highly competitive and one needs to work very hard to make it to the top and train more. I am going to tell other children who are willing to join international pageants to work as hard as they can because the international competition is very tight,” she proudly said.
However, this young girl was not the only one who represented the country at the international pageantry.
She was accompanied by other local queens who represented various categories at the international pageantry namely Yangu Masalila, who was awarded Little Miss Elegant Model, and Dignity Vimba who scooped the Mini Miss Africa award.
For her part, Vimba said she was happy that she got an award as it meant a lot because she had just took a step forward to fulfill her career. She added that the pageantry also opened her eyes as she learnt from the mistakes she made during the contest.
“I have learnt that you need to always be ready and prepared for anything, more especially about the history of my country, also for me to make it I should to be bold, not shy.
That’s how you can be able to conquer other contestants,” she said. Meanwhile, Masalila said she felt good about her achievement saying she deserved it. She also explained that it meant a lot to her to have been awarded Little Miss Elegant Model adding that she was very proud of herself. “I have learnt that pageantry internationally is done differently from our local pageants in terms of the number of people, the rules and regulations, the schedule.
Locally, we are used to a pageant being held for one day only but at international level, it’s for a week with different activities each day. I am going to share what I learnt here with other contestants locally by telling them my experience from the contest, how I met other people and how I got my award,” she confidently said.
Prince and Princess International is an international children’s and teens festival, which was established in 2000 in Thailand with the aim of promoting talent and culture amongst children across the globe.
The festival is open to all girls and boys between four to 19 years-old.
It was held in Chiang Mai in Thailand from November 12 to 18, 2019 where children from Botswana were competing with more than 50 children from 15 countries from across the world.
The contestants were judged on talent, culture, modelling and interviews.
