Boko reads riot act to spies

If the party can have enough evidence against anyone who was bought or given money to destroy it, they will be shown the door. The love of money has blinded other people. Money will never build anyone or a party. My party needs women and men who will be diligent and determined for their organisation,” Boko said on Saturday when addressing the Botswana National Front Youth League (BNFYL) delegates.
He said he wants members who can be proud and be ambassadors of the BNF wherever they go. “I am disappointed by how some of you behave especially on social media. This organisation requires levels of discipline. I don’t understand why people call themselves comrades when they can openly insult other comrades. Unless people do not understand the word comrade. Comrades are supposed to differ when debating issues, policies amongst others in a respectful way. BNF is a party of debates because people are required to read even its manifesto but debates are done in a mature manner and at some point we need to reach agreement,” he said.
Boko said the youth should be vigilant because they are the backbone of the struggle.
He also warned members who like to attack their party to desist from doing that since there is no one bigger than the organisation.
“You should know that there is no one here who is bigger than the organisation or who knows the organisation more than all. We need to protect our organisation and fight for it when the need arises. I want everyone of you to think about the contribution you did to this organisation. That’s where your energy should be channelled. Learn to respect party elders and this habit of insulting them as if they are your age should stop,” Boko warned members.
However Botswana Congress Party (BCP) president Dumelang Saleshando told the delegates that an election is a marathon and it does not mean the end for someone.
“We need to accept the people’s choice when they have spoken. After elections all people should know that there is a lot of work to be done and we need each other rather than becoming enemies. We need to present ourselves as people who will one day govern this country,” said Saleshando.
Saleshando said the youth league used to be a grooming ground for political leaders as one had to go through all the important party structures.
“That alone helped members to know the culture, policies and ideologies of the party. For example, the BNF I grew up in could not accept a person who does not go through such process. It helped the party very well. The youth should be advisers of the mother body. I grew through that when I was in BNF,” he said.
