“The relationship we had did not work out. I felt I was not being given much attention as an artist. Again our vision and ways of doing things were different so we found it fit to go our separate ways,” she said.

The Mmamongwato hit maker said she felt that the record company was changing her image and her music orientation. However Sasa Klaas was quick to note that despite the break up with ViB Music, there is no bad blood between them.

When ViB Music signed her, a number of industry players envied her as she received a number of privileges such as collaborations with international producers, more bookings locally and internationally. “It had its advantages such as getting monthly salaries and other related things,” she explained.

While with ViB Music last year, Sasa Klaas collaborated with American producer Kinetic 9 who has worked with the likes of Wu-Tang Clan, South African producers such as Lunatik of the Caracara fame and Thasman who has worked with the likes of HHP, Zola and Metswako. These producers worked with her on her unreleased album.

When quizzed on what will happen to the music that she had already recorded for the upcoming album she said: “The music is still my intellectual property but we are yet to meet and see how we are going to work it out.”

She also noted that she was not impressed with the beats the American producer Kinetic 9 had done for her. As for moving on, she stated that she is in talks with a record company that she will reveal in a few days to come.

The news of Sasa Klaas separating with ViB Music surfaced recently. ViB Music issued a statement in which they sated: “The decision was not taken lightly, and after much deliberation, both parties agreed it is in their best interest to part ways. We have had a great run with Sasa Klaas and wish her all the best with her career. We are positive she will continue to be a formidable force in the music industry and go on to inspire other young Batswana to follow their passion”.

ViB Music representative, Palesa Makoti, said that the two parties had different visions. “We did not want to force Sasa Klaas to share the same vision with us therefore we found it wise to let her go since she was not comfortable”.

Makoti said as ViB Music they are still in good books with the Sasa Klaas and at the moment they are working on an agreement for the music she had already worked on at the time they parted.
