AUSC Region 5, TAFISA holds leadership course

The programme started on Tuesday and ended yesterday. Member countries of AUSC Region 5 were requested to submit names of organisations involved in sport development in various communities.

The Botswana Sports Volunteers Movement (SVM) were the beneficiaries of the course.

Thirty young people from SVM participated in the programme. Young people involved in sports from Malawi and Zambia also participated. The TAFISA Certified Leadership Courses (CLC) in Sports for All is held under the

theme “For a better world through sport for all”. The Objectives of CLC is to promote

sports for all and physical activities. The objectives are aligned with the goals of

TAFISA’s Mission 2030 “For a Better World through Sport for All” and within the

framework of Mission 2030’s 12 key themes. TAFISA Certified Leadership Courses in Sport for All were developed to train and qualify national Sport for All leaders around the globe.

Since its inception in 2007, and with the IOC support since 2010, more than 50 TAFISA International and National CLCs have been successfully hosted by TAFISA members and NOCs all over the world, resulting in an international network of more than 1,000 graduates.

The course draws 30 participants; two from each of the AUSC Region 5 member countries. These are Angola, Botswana, eSwatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The course was meant to empower participants with knowledge and experience transfer opportunities as well as the development of English and presentation or public speaking skills. It was also meant to give participants an opportunity to showcase local or national initiatives. Participants in the CLC will receive a Certificate of Completion, signed by both AUSC Region 5 and TAFISA, documenting their successful completion of the course.
