Ditshupo played a pivotal role for his club this season both in the Mascom Top 8 and the league alongside Lawrence Majawa in midfield.

He was elevated to the captaincy role at the beginning of the season when former captain, Sekhana Koko joined the technical team.

He has been nominated alongside Orapa United defender, Olekantse Mambo as well as Mochudi Centre Chiefs captain, Lesego Galenamotlhale. Mambo was also a nominee for the Mascom Top 8 player of the tournament award for his solid performances at the heart of Orapa defence.

The hard-tackling defender has even caught the eye of national team selectors. Galenamotlhale on the other hand was again instrumental for Chiefs this season and even played some of the games as a defender.

He won the award last season together with the Supporters Player of the season award. The winner will pocket P75, 000.

Rollers’ mentor, Mark Harrison will battle it out with Chiefs’ Mike Sithole and Madinda Ndlovu for the coach of the season award.

Harrison lost just two games although his side later forfeited three points for the game against Gilport Lions over the use of Ofentse Nato.

His side has conceded just 16 goals and scored a total of 67 goals.

Ndlovu has also done well on his first season at Orapa United and lost just three games and conceded 17 goals. Sithole also led his side to a season’s photo finish although there are still disputes regarding the championship. The winner takes P25,000.

Kabelo Dambe (Rollers), Mosimanegape Robert (Orapa United) and Anthony Gouws (Jwaneng Galaxy) have been nominated for the P10,000 prize in the goalkeeper of the season award category.

There will be an interesting battle for the Young Player of the season award with the nomination of Kaone van der Westhuizen (Rollers), Thabang Sesinyi (Orapa United) and Kabelano Mooketsane (Gilport Lions).

Westhuizen has slotted in perfectly at the left back position for Rollers and beat seasoned players like Thato Bolweleng and Otlantshekela Mooketsi to the position.

Sesinyi was also an impact player for Orapa United and scored crucial goals despite coming on as a second half substitute on many occasions.  Mooketsane was also key for Gilport Lions despite his side failing to finish in the top eight.

His teammate, Tendai Nyamadzawo is assured of a P25,000 cheque after finishing top of the goal scoring charts.

Botswana’s top three whistlemen, Joshua Bondo, Lekgotla Johannes and Tirelo Mositwane will battle for the referee of the season award while Oamogetse Godisamang, Bakwena Simankalele and Moemedi Monakwane have been nominated for the Assistant Referee of the season award.

The awards ceremony is billed for June 24.
