Title chase heats up as titans clash

As a quartet of teams chase the bragging rights, eyes are also set on the title, as the chase heats up.
On Saturday afternoon, Orapa United welcome Jwaneng Galaxy at the Itekeng Stadium in an afternoon kickoff.
The two teams by Thursday afternoon were second and fourth on the log receptively with just three points in between. The Ostriches, who are just a point behind the log leaders, could go atop by Saturday evening with a win over the Galaxy Stars. Mogomotsi ‘Teenage’ Mpote’s side is from a 3-1 midweek win away to Extension Gunners.
United are unbeaten in the last five games with four wins while they played to a draw once.
The team has just lost once in this league campaign, a record Mpote will be desperate to protect on Saturday afternoon. His side however faces, Galaxy who are on a form on their own. The Jwaneng based side, could have a say on the title chase, as they have a chance to be second by the end of the week. Galaxy have won four times in the last five games while losing once. Neither of the teams have dominated the tie; Galaxy have won twice on eight games while United have only won once, fives games have ended in draws with just seven goals scored. Fresh from upsetting pacesetters, Security Systems with a 2-1 win on Wednesday, Philemon Makwengwe’s Gaborone United turn their heads to cross-town rivals Township Rollers in a game to be played at the Royal Aria Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Reds are looking to crash in to the title chasing party.
They sit fifth with 21 points, eight behind leaders. A win over Rollers will certainly help their course. However Moyagoleele are having a topsy-turvy run of form, with two wins and two losses and a draw in the last five games. Under Makwengwe, they have won two of their games, and scoring eight times while conceding two times.
Popa on the other hand, are eyeing the top spot. The team has a chance to draw level with Systems and could be inspired by their form. The team is unbeaten in the last five games. Rollers will however be without attacking midfielder, Segolame Boy who set for an operation on the shoulder. He is set to miss three months of football. Boy has scored five times in the last four encounters against GU. Popa have dominated the tie in the recent years, with eight wins compared to GU’s two in the last 18 meets.

On Sunday afternoon struggling sides, Molepolole City Stars and Gunners will battle it out at the Lobatse Sports Complex while Miscellaneous and BR Highlanders are in a battle for bragging right in the Bamangwato Derby to be played at the Serowe Sports Complex. In search of maximum points, basement placed Notwane will meet Prisons at the Molepolole Sports Complex.
