The Village magistrate court yesterday heard that the two - Bampoloki Seeiso and Tumelo Tshukudu who were charged with the murder of Montshiwa December 29, 2015 are now free men.
State Prosecutor, Ernest Mosate revealed this before Magistrate Gaone Bagopi yesterday. Mosate said the two are likely to turn state witnesses during the trial. Previously the court heard that the two, a traditional doctor and a businessman were linked to the murder after they allegedly sold the murder weapon (a gun) to the other suspect, Modise David. The Investigating Officer (IO) Detective Superintendent Sergeant Marapo told the court that David bought the gun from Seiso on October 17 with the assistance of Tshukudu (who is David’s friend) for P2,500. The IO told the court that Tshukudu also told the police that he went to Mafikeng with David on two occasions in an attempt to purchase a pistol from one Wilfred Mpolokang for self-protection. Marapo said Tshukudu, also a friend to Mpolokang, referred David to Seiso who had a 30.06 rifle he was selling.
The court also heard that the rifle was sold on October 17 in Gaborone West and was handed to David in the presence of one Chester who was not before court. David is reported to have been the legal advisor to the deceased.
However, David’s lawyer, Kgosietsile Ngakaagae complained to the court that the police were taking too long to complete their investigations. David was arrested in December and is on a P10,000 bail. The defence lawyer argued that charges against his client should be withdrawn as well.
“They should withdraw the charges and do their investigations, after they are complete then they can reinstate the charges,” he argued. State prosecutor Mosate replied: “We are waiting for the results of the findings and we will then advise the court of our next step.” David will appear again in court on July 22.
