Vee signs half a million pula deal

The deal amounts to a whopping P500,000. On why they decided not to offer the Mmamongwato rapper the deal, ViB chief executive officer, Leeroy Monaheng said, “ViB has three sub- companies, if I could say that. We have Virgin Brew, ViB Mobile and ViB Music. Sasa Klaas was signed under ViB Music record label.
Her contract was strictly with ViB Music.”
“We chose Vee looking at his previous sale performances with us digitally. It was a purely business move, there were no feelings involved,” he said.
He continued: “We listened to Vee’s upcoming album and it makes good business sense to us.”
According to a press statement from ViB Mobile, the deal is the biggest digital music distribution ever in the history of Botswana.
“This deal will give ViB Mobile exclusive digital distribution rights in the Botswana territory to Vee’s upcoming album, scheduled to be released this year. It will be available on all the three local Mobile Network Operators, Mascom, Orange Botswana and beMOBILE,” he added.
Between April 2015 and February 2016, ViB Mobile has awarded local artists royalties of around P400,000.
As the highest selling artist, Vee has led the pack, accumulating over P100,000 from digital downloads.
“I am excited about this partnership. ViB Mobile has always supported my growth as an artist and allowed my valued fans to easily access my music.
The future of music is in digital,” an elated VEE said in a statement.
Vee, who is currently shooting a video in South Africa, was unable to discuss the matter over the phone when Showbiz contacted him but promised to give a full interview when he is back in the country.
