Strikers who gave goalkeepers a nightmare

Moemedi ‘Jomo’ Moatlhaping

Thirty goals in a league season remains his highest turn out thus far. His 2011/2012 season ranks him amongst the 30-goal club; a few strikers have reached that feat. He has played for Mochudi Centre Chiefs, Gaborone United (GU) and Township Rollers. He boasts two league championships to his profile. Moatlhaping is still doing his business with Chiefs in the second tier. He is also part of the 2012 AFCON Zebras squad.

Jerome Ramatlhakwana

Had made a reputation for himself in the Zebras Under-23 side, Jay-Jay, as he is popularly known, burst into the local scene in 2013 with Mochudi Centre Chiefs. He is a beast in the air, quick and good on both feet. Ramatlhakwana won two titles with Chiefs and Rollers while he has also donned Orapa United colours. He has had stints in South Africa, Cyprus and the DRC.

Terrence Mandaza

The Terror’s 42-goal in a league season tally in 2010 remains untouched. He made a name for himself in the perilous Rollers’ side that won a double in 2010 while earning his first Zimbabwe’s Warriors call up. His exploits sparked interest from the ABSA Premiership including giants Orlando Pirates. Mandaza left for South Africa in 2010 and also played in Asia. He returned to the local league, but failed to replicate his form. Mandaza, who has played for Jwaneng Galaxy and Nico United, is currently with Chiefs in the First Division league.

Onalethata Tshekiso

When Rollers needed to fill Mandaza’s void they turned to then a young lad, Tshekiso. A typical number nine with great control, good in the air as he was with both feet. He was part of Stan Tshosane’s Zebras squad at the 2012 AFCON finals.

Ronald Chikomo

The Zambian arrived in the country as teenager at Gaborone United. He remains the longest serving expatriate in the league. He was a robust striker whose reputation rose as big game player. He is currently with Security Systems and has also played for Orapa United

Sageby Sandaka

He had a couple of problems outside the pitch with his bosses at GU. But his work on the field was undoubted. Sandaka was not your typical number nine. He enjoyed running at his defenders and his trademark left foot long-range shots will always be remembered by the Reds’ faithful. He also played for BMC before heading back to his homeland, Zimbabwe.

Malepa Bolelang

Chippa was a leader upfront in the inspiring ECCO City Greens side. He has walked away with top goal scorer award once while came close on numerous occasions despite having little fanfare. As his reputation increased the big clubs came knocking and Chiefs won the race to his signature. He is currently handicapped after a horrific car accident.

Master Masitara

He made a name for himself with Nico united. Despite the stature of the team, Masitara walked away with top goal scorer award with 18 goals in first season while he scored 28 goals in second before leaving for Mozambique. He has played for FC Satmos while he is currently with premier league rookies, Morupule Wanderers.

Kekaetswe Moloi

His highest remains 25 goals in a season when he bagged the green boot award. He is not the busiest of the strikers, but because of his good positioning goals keeps coming for Mara. He is currently with GU while he has played for Rollers and Chiefs.
