Signed International recruits Connie Ferguson

Signed International is a television reality competition meant to create opportunities for talented Batswana actors.

Speaking during the launch, Ferguson said that she was pleased to be part of season two of the reality TV show as she will use her expertise to help develop and nurture local talent.  She stated that Signed International has added impetus to the local film industry, which is still growing.   “It will help catapult careers to a greater platform,” Ferguson said.

The actress hinted that she might feature some of the local talent on her upcoming film projects produced by Ferguson Films, a company she owns with husband, Shona Ferguson. “After watching snippets of season one, I was charmed.  We will give it all the support we can,” she said.

Ferguson said with Signed International and her expertise they will strive to develop individuals that will improve the local film industry and help it grow.

She said: “The wheels in the Botswana film industry are in motion and getting somewhere”. The Lobatse native advised upcoming actors to treat their craft as a profession in order to be taken seriously by decision-makers in the film industry.

Season one of the reality TV show has penetrated the international market, the producers have secured a deal with pay TV, Star Times. Signed International will be showcased in 23 African countries.

Season one of the TV show produced the likes of Tlholego Colten Chaba, Kgomotso Ratsie and Khumo Maakwe who have gone to act in South African soapies such as Scandal and Generations.

Auditions are set to kickstart on May 27 till July 1, 2016 in different parts of the country.

This year’s winner will walk away with a cash prize of P100,000 and a contract with Talent Etc to start a professional acting career in South Africa.
