Manthe dominates UB sports awards

Manthe told Monitor Sport that the two awards were a motivation. As a member of the national karate team, Manthe won a bronze medal at the 2015 All Africa Games. “The awards mean I should continue working hard and go out and defend my medal at the Africa Cup. I want to continue working hard because my next target is to win the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) award next year,” said tan excited Manthe.

Manthe has been selected to represent Botswana at the upcoming Zone VI karate championships that will be held in Harare, Zimbabwe by month end. She will be competing in individual and team kumite.

Tiroyaone Omphile of volleyball was voted the sports man of the year. The awards were held under the theme: “Play clean, show drugs the red card.” 

Other awards: sports leadership award (Abueng Letshwiti - netball), sports volunteer of the year (Thatayaone Oabile), sports freshperson of the year (Keemenao Segopodi- woman, karate and Titus Ponatshego - man, karate).

Sports student with disability of the year (Tuelo Buru), LLC sports house of the year (Block 448/470), recreational program of the year (John Smith’s book store soccer league). Most improved team of the year (UB kicks women’s soccer team), club of the year (UB athletics), team of the year (UB karate).

Spirit of UB sport (Othata Phale and Mrs Molotsi), achievements awards (Botshelo Taolo, Sepheko Motlhagodi, Justice Dipeba and Raj Rathedi).
