The visitors sat back and allowed the home side to play in a well attended fixture.

However, it was Boys who came close to opening the score but Kaone Molefe failed to direct his shot to the open post.

Oarabile Powe broke the deadlock in the 27th minute to send the crowd into jubilation. A scuffled clearance fell to Lovers Mofokeng, who laid a telling pass to Powe and he buried into the bottom left from outside the box.

Boys responded 12 minutes later as their goalkeeper posted a long ball. Galebose Masala failed to clear, instead his attempted clearance fell for Molefe, who lobbed the attacking goalkeeper who clipped the attacker’s heels and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Odirile Kgaodi buried the resulting spot kick.

From the dugout, Boys made a double substitute. Kago Nfila replaced Orapeleng Nkwe and Molebeledi Gabohwe came in for Omphile Madala. Mamoja Diskie continued with their constant attacks and were rewarded in the 61st minute when Powe drove past Daniel Montshiwa and chipped a cross towards the penalty area and the ball was handled in the box. Galebotse Masala buried the resulting spot kick.

Boys were content with an away goal, they sat with five men and troubled less upfront.

Mamoja continued to force their way down the flanks, but their attacks faded towards the closing minutes.

The visitors’ coach, Thalogang Nthaga said their plan was to get an away goal. “Our plan was to get a crucial away goal and we did.

We played very well under difficult circumstances. We did not know our opponents and now we have a plan for the second half next weekend,” Nthaga said.

Mamoja coach, Texan Phiri was happy with the result and will go to Gaborone and continue where they left off.

“We needed to win at all costs. We have conceded but we have a plan for that. We are going there and we will attack from the word go. I don’t believe in defending, I believe in entertaining football,” he said.
