Project 124 was conceptualised by Launchit Coaching (Pty) Ltd through its business development and business-coaching units.  For the coming three years the project will be recruiting 200 young entrepreneurs per year on a programme that involves training, benchmarking, experimental learning, mentorship and both funding and investment opportunities.

“But only 10 people will make it to the final round, which only three will be given different prizes for seed capital,” said Ofentse Kgaswane, the manager of Project 124.

An amount of P30,000 will be shared amongst the winners with the overall winner receiving P15,000, second prize winner receiving P10,000 and the third prize winner getting P5,000.

The programme runs from June 1 to July 22, 2016 with a registration fee of P200.

Addressing the media recently, Kgaswane noted that unemployment in the country stands at 20 percent, according to the Statistics Botswana AIDS Impact Survey of 2013.

“Through this project young entrepreneurs will have an opportunity of presenting their business ideas to potential investors,” he said.

He believes that Project 124 will help entrepreneurs including university graduates create innovative and sustainable business ventures that will contribute to sustainable jobs in the next three years.

“These should not only be ordinary business plans, but something well crafted, conceptualised and creative. We need business plans that can change the structure of the economy,” said Kgaswane.

To apply for this project one has to write a one-page essay on the topic that will be given to them during the registration period.
