The event, held at BotswanaCraft on Friday, started off on a low key. The event which has branded itself over the past years, did not leave up to expectation in the process pulling an average crowd.

But it was Rantlhoiwa who had the most energy on the stage. Kick starting the performances was Sebina who is relatively new in the market and has only one song under her belt dubbed Love light. She mostly belted out her cover songs from the likes of Kwaito kings Trompies, amongst others.

Although she has been known to turn heads when on stage she received less attention of the three acts on the night. Next up on stage, was heartbeat studio’s Rantlhoiwa. The Kopisa hitmaker’s energy was the talk of the night. Although most of her songs are unknown, her hit song which won her the best dance song at the second annual Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMAs) last year and receiving airplay on BBS Africa Radio charts, Kopisa, was the most memorable.

Mascom Live sessions was be closed in style by the main act of the night Freshly Ground. The five-man band who appeared with only four members on stage at BotswanaCraft was expected to be the highlight of the night.

Their performance was cold until the dying minutes when they belted out their iconic songs including Fire is lo, their 2004 hit song Doo Bee Doo and the song which was the theme song for the 2010 World Cup held in South Africa Waka Waka.

Mascom Live sessions have been running since 2011 and has been said to provide platform for local artists to perform alongside the greats.
