Systems eye Makwengwe as Nare talks stall

Makwengwe who is on suspension at GU has been called for a series of disciplinary hearings, but no decision has been made on his future. He is seen as the man to replace Nare, who is reported to be heading for the exit door with just four months left on his contract.
According to reports, Nare has rejected the latest Systems’ offer, as he eyes a P25,000 salary. As negotiations stall, GU, Police XI, Morupule Wanderers and defending champions, Township Rollers are reportedly circling around for Chico’s signature with Systems said to be preparing a replacement.
Speaking to Mmegi Sport this week, Systems’ public relations officer, Zolani Kraai denied that the club is courting Makwengwe but admitted they have not reached an agreement with Nare.
“We are not looking at anyone for the coaching job. We are currently negotiating with Chico, this is an ongoing process and we cannot say when we will reach an agreement. It will all depend on certain components of the contract. I cannot go into detail because it is an issue between the employer and employee,” he said.
“It would be unfair to both parties if I disclose the details of the negotiations. At the moment he is our coach, he trains the team and will be in charge on the weekend and we are not eyeing any coach for the job.”
Nare arrived at the Tlokweng-based side in 2018 and helped them survive relegation. In his first full season, his side managed to squeeze inside the top eight while they sit third currently after a very good start that saw them go 10 games unbeaten, the longest in the club’s short history in the elite league.
As his reputation soars at Systems, Nare is said to be attracting interest from the moneyed sides. Meanwhile, a number of key players including skipper, Osego Gaotewe, Ronald Chikomo, Kemmy Pilato, Karabo Tlabakwe, Michael Pillar and Thatayaone ‘Popo’ Ramatlapeng would be out of contract in June as their current deals near the end.
Popo was linked with a move to Orapa United in January but it did not materialise as teams look to poach at Systems.
“It is an internal matter, we are working on. We are reviewing contracts of all the players at the club, looking at the contents of our agreement. The executive committee is currently working on the matter and we are not aware that they are being linked with other teams,” Kraai added.
