Zac not Zakhem gave clubs money � GU

GU made the clarity after former Botswana Premier League (BPL) chairperson, Walter Kgabung had said there was nothing sinister with the league facilitating loans to clubs from Jagdish Shah in a similar way Zakhem assisted Miscellaneous in the past.
Kgabung had stated that some board members had accused him of securing a loan amounting to P900,000 from Shah and was distributing to selected clubs with the intention of empowering them in order to perform well against their (concerned chairmen’s) clubs.
He said the truth was that Motlakase Power Dynamos, Sankoyo Bush Bucks, Miscellaneous and Green Lovers approached him to request that Township Rollers or Shah assist the clubs with money whilst awaiting the results of the work of the Task Force in finding alternative funding.
“This was ostensibly because of my position as Township Rollers Chairman. The clubs went on and requested the loans on their own volition and informed me after the fact. You may wish to note that similar arrangements had been facilitated by the League (records are available) between Nicholas Zakhem (GU) and Miscellaneous over the past several years,” he said. However, GU through their secretary, Lepholetha Senne have since said Zac Construction and not Zakhem was involved in the loan deals. Senne said both GU and Zakhem in his personal capacity never extended any assistance to Miscellaneous as alleged by Kgabung. He said the assistance came from Zac Construction as a company.
“It is our conviction that Zac Construction (Pty Ltd) is entitled to do whatever business it deems fit with whoever. In the matter at hand, Kgabung’s own statement reveals that the clubs approached him and requested that Rollers assist them with funds,” he said. Senne also said records will indicate that funds were requested from Rollers and not from any other person or entity.
