State asks for time in gospel star murder

The three accused, who include Mokgwathise’s wife, Yvonne, allegedly  murdered the gospel star in Mogojogojo village on March 9, 2015.

The deceased was allegedly found dead in a  pool of blood behind a pit latrine at his home in the village, with a wound under his left armpit.

Appearing before magistrate Letsholo Thekolo yesterday, the  prosecutor in the case, Sub Inspector Legodile Sennafela told the court that investigations were not yet over.

“We plead with the court to grant us three months to process the evidence. We are yet to send photographs of both the scene and the post-mortem as well as evidence for assessment to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions,” Sennafela said.

In a previous mention, Sennafela told court that investigations were not complete due to the wife of the deceased refusing to cooperate. Sennafela told the court that Yvonne refused to produce her phone’s pin code on request by the mobile network service provider, in order to access her phone for further investigations.

Sennafela had therefore asked for a court order for the network provider to access the phone without the pin-code to enable the case to proceed.  Magistrate Mareledi Dipate had granted an order that the mobile network provider access Yvonne’s phone without a pin code.

At the time, Yvonne said she had no objection to the order, stating that she had forgotten her pin code.
