Majombolo close in on Flamingoes

Majomobolo as the Selibe-Phikwe Club are affectionately known to hordes of supporters have cut Flamingoes’ five-point lead and equalled the latter on 33 points after 16 outings.
Flamingoes remain superior at the summit of the log table thanks to a solitary goal advantage. The Sowa Town side endured a dreary start to the year with one win, two draws and a home defeat. While the leaders were wobbling in a year start, purple patch Majombolo demonstrated a desire to contend the title. They are unbeaten in five matches they had played since the beginning of the second round.
They collected 13 out of a possible 15 points in the four wins and a draw. In the run, they harvested 12 goals and conceded twice. Since the turn up of the year, their stingy defensive quartet has not been penetrated.
Majombolo lost once to the leaders Flamingoes this season. Their main undoing was numeral stalemates midway through the first round and that seem a thing of the past.

The club’s spokesperson, Moloko ‘Ace’ Masoja credited their fairy campaign to a number of factors including managing to retain most of the squad members, technical team and influences of the town dwellers. He praised Selibe-Phikwe for uniting behind the team, which he said eased the financial constraints that have been a scourge since the defunct BCL Mine dumped the club.
Football lovers in the town irrespective of the teams they support in the top Premiership league have shed their colours and are rallying behind Majombolo in unity to bring elite football entertainment to Selibe-Phikwe.
The mass exodus of players in the past two campaigns that engulfed the side since relegating from the elite league has cooled off as the team managed to retain most of the squad players. Yesteryear sensation, Peter Muchina who was a loyal player in his playing days has prolonged his loyalty as volunteer coach. He is credited for instilling club culture in the squad. He is working alongside a club legend of another generation, Monametsi ‘Sunday’ Kelebale.
“The mission is simple, to bring back football to Selibe-Phikwe. Football is the most valued entertainment in town and people are thirsty for elite matches,” Masoja said. “We have supporters of Township Rollers, Gunners, Notwane, Gaborone United and others that are based here rallying behind us because they understand we are a ticket to bring their teams here.”
Masoja said the town leadership was also playing an essential part in assisting the team. “We still seek a main sponsor, but the community and its leadership has really cushioned our financial strains.” Quizzed if they would afford premiership that appears to have grown too expensive for clubs without sponsors, he said, “We are ambitious, the town has shown so much interest in the club and we are optimistic that once we gain the promotion we are aiming for, we would pull something up.” Majombolo will be inactive this weekend as the league breaks for the Orange FA Cup. They were knocked out of the competition by Tsa Botlhe.
