Motswana Buys Stake In JSE-listed Firm

The company was launched in Botswana last week under the management of a Motswana shareholder, Ogone Mothooagae, after having operated in South Africa for almost 18 years.

Mothooagae has a background in driving organisational transformation initiatives that range from business strategy formulation, process re-engineering and the execution of employing information and communications technology (ICT) as an enabler.

Adapt IT provides a variety of specialised turnkey information technology (IT) solutions and services. It also offers consulting and application design, as well as delivery and support, all of which focus on delivering profitable turnover growth and return on investment.

Speaking during the launch, Mothooagae said the company intended to transform the way local organisations conducted business. The company’s operations were geared to empower the region through an increase in employee participation, mentorship and knowledge transfer.

“We are here to do business, we intend to develop market-relevant solutions, transform them into high perfuming business that can compete globally,” he said.

During the same event, Minister of Infrastructure Science and Technology (MIST), Nonofo Molefhi said government had initiatives and investments geared at ensuring that Botswana kept up with the latest technology.

He said some of these initiatives were designed to specifically support the growth and adoption of ICT technologies in Botswana, which includes connecting community programmes such as Kitsong Centres, Thuto Net, Government On-Line and Botswana Innovation Hub.

“Government saw the need to not only build capacity through various initiatives aimed at training our people but to invest in the infrastructure that would support knowledge transformation and innovation exponential growth,” he said.

Molefhi said more people were using ICT and taking advantage of the ICT infrastructure that government has provided adding that initiatives by companies such as Adapt IT would help many businesses to leverage on ICT in order to serve their customers.

He said an increase in the use of ICT capabilities by companies and the general population would help Botswana attain the level of knowledge economy that the government aspired for.

“It is for this reason that as government we are ever receptive of investments in this field from private sector quarters such as this one embarked on by Adapt It. I understand that Adapt IT has a good record of transferring knowledge and capacity building particularly for graduates in ICT fraternity who need guidance and intends to continue doing so in Botswana market,” said the minister.
