The hard-working forward joined Orapa United at the beginning of the season following his release by Gaborone United (GU) where he spent several years as a key player.

Chikomo won the other two gold medals at GU where he played an integral part. Many had already written his football obituary when GU released him last season.

He moved to Orapa United where he linked up with Madinda Ndlovu who has in the past saw this competition elude him both at Rollers and Mochudi Centre Chiefs.

With Orapa United playing highly forceful and attacking game, Chikomo has fitted in well and has been a revelation for them both in the league and the cup.

On Saturday, he arguably covered more ground than any other player before being substituted in extra time.

He was involved in all action both defensively an in attack.

His aggressive approach to the game saw him getting involved in several battles with Rollers defence where he won a couple of fouls.  He went on to score an all-important equaliser with less than 20 minutes remaining. At the time Rollers were trying to take control of the proceedings. The goal followed his never die attitude where he applied pressure on Rollers defence before goalkeeper, Kabelo Dambe committed himself by trying to punch the ball away. He failed and Chikomo capitalised with a beautiful bicycle kick.

“It was tough especially having to come from behind against a side like Rollers. I am very happy with my achievement. From the beginning of the match up to the last minute we played with determination. We did not want Rollers to play in the midfield so we closed Segolame Boy and Maano Ditshupo out,” Chikomo told Monitor Sport after the game.

He said his hard work has been the reason why he is doing well at Orapa United.

“My coach has been very supportive and always encouraging me. Even after my release at GU, I did not get discouraged and continued to work hard,” he said.

Chikomo won the tournament previously with GU during the 2012-2013 and 2014-2015 seasons. Sembowa also won it twice with GU and once with Rollers.
