Mascom Top 8 spinoffs as hotels record brisk business

With the Mascom Top 8 finals coming here this weekend, all roads lead to Francistown for the Orapa United and Township Rollers clash in what is anticipated to be a thriller.

BusinessWeek contacted local hotels who have benefitted from the windfall as their bookings prior to the Saturday clash of the giants revealed that most of them are fully booked. The general manager for Adansonia Hotel, Tony Chatadza is pleased that they are benefitting from the weekend game.

He revealed that Adansonia is already fully booked for the whole weekend.

“We received numerous bookings for the entire weekend. Football officials as well as football supporters from across the country who do not want to miss the finals have booked in our hotel,” said Chatadza.  He said due to their exquisite services they have built a strong and good relationship with Mascom who are now one of their regular customers.

He said they occasionally do weekend specials to attract customers into their hotel and this strategy is doing quite well.

“Through this we publicise what we have on offer and in the process gain new customers every weekend,” said Chatadza who added that they use various media to advertise their products and services.

A receptionist at Cresta Marang Gardens, Lizibo Mathonsi shared similar sentiments with Chatadza stating that the game has boosted their sales.

She said the hotel is already fully booked which might be as a result of football supporters booking for the upcoming Mascom Top 8 finals. She said this brings more joy because it is not always easy to have all their rooms fully booked. She surmised: “We had marketed ourselves quite well for the past weeks hence the windfall. Our hotel is one of the best here and we are well known for our unique hospitality”.

For her part, the reservations clerk at Cresta Thapama Hotel, Ludo Molokwane said their business will blossom on Saturday because their rooms are already fully booked. She said Mascom and the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) officials have booked accommodation at their hotel because of the upcoming Mascom Top 8 and the by-election at Phillip Matante East this weekend.

“All these stakeholders are our regular customers, so it is evident that they are pleased with our services and always bring in other customers because they are happy with our service,” said Molokwane.
