MRI�s Prime Health lands in Maun

The Maun Prime Health Medical Centre is the latest to be opened following other clinics in Gaborone and Kazungula that will offer integrated primary health care services to customers.
The Maun clinic is located at the Old Mall, in a building that used to house Delta Private Hospital that has since closed down.
MRI operations manager, Dr Lesego Sikele said services offered at the facility include Optometry (eye care services), pharmacy, and X-ray services.
He added that paramedic services will be offered from the New Mall to the clinic.
Sikele explained that they have plans to include dental, physiotherapy and other specialist services in the future.
He reiterated that their services are offered by qualified doctors and specialists.
He added that the Prime Health brand was initiated by MRI after realising there is a gap in the provision of private primary health care nationally.
The principal focus of primary health, he said, is to promote good health, and prevent and treat diseases.
He added that he observed that a section of the population is disadvantaged to seek health services due to unavailability and congestion at existing public clinics.
“The service is affordable and it also targets people on various medical aid schemes,” he said.
He added that their clinics are strategically located, saying that the Kazungula clinic, which first operated last September targets the anticipated boom in Chobe brought by the Kazungula Bridge and the tourism sector.
Sikele further said their previous experience in doing business with the tourism sector will come in handy as they also target tourists as clients.
“For some time MRI has been undertaking air evacuations for the tourism sector.
Our air ambulance service targets cutoff areas such as the remote tourism areas. Now we have taken our services further through the clinics.”
He further explained that their target is to build linkages with existing private clinics to complement each other. He said the idea is not to run small private clinics down.
He added that existing clinics can utilise their state of the art facilities through referrals.
Sikele said the clinic will further refer patients to other private medical centres for services, which they do not offer.
