Colourful attires rule Gab's Premium Fashion Gala

As usual Batswana did not disappoint with their fashion choices.
For the photographers at the event, the arrivals were the pinnacle of what African Attire on Fleek picnic fashion should be. And this year was no exception. There were a lot of transformations in the fashion looks but they revealed the creative liveliness of Africa’s fashion cultures. It was dresses aplenty on the picturesque venue and social media was screaming with event hashtags and people’s unending declaration and love for African attire.
From your normal fashion lover to the Instagram influencers, one could never be short of favourite looks on the day. Some women opted for ruffled gowns with revealing necklines while others kept it simple in a your usual leteisi dress with collage sleeves.
Ladies as they are known added a pop of colour to the event with their makeup. One of the unique dressed ladies at the event rocked a batik shirt with a gorgeous tiered skirt alongside matching heels and a crimson necklace. She wowed the crowd as she arrived in this distinctive outfit.
People were given a chance to go to the stage and compete for the best-dressed award. There was a tie for both women and men but their presence up there upped the glamour a bit. Men also didn’t want to be left out, so they constantly rose from the ashes to the occasion.
One of the winners from the men’s category rocked a Swati inspired look and he was indeed a true showstopper as he kept his look smooth as ever with minimal accessories.
And off course there was those young women who showed a little skin with their African print mini skirts and cutout lace dresses. Besides that, there were all looking regal as ever in their accessorised gowns. The event, now in its second year has grown to become one of the most anticipated fashion events of the year in Gaborone. Although later it turns into a full-fledged music festival, the owner of the event David Letshwiti came up with a brilliant idea to attract following. This year’s Grand African Attire on Fleek Picnic brought everyone out to play as they rocked some of the latest looks.
Some looks had men’s jaws on the floor for all the right reasons while others were serious misses.
Most of the outfits on the day were custom made by local fashion designers and dressmakers. They emphasised the visual power of their designs through the event. Batswana love African fashion especially African print and leteisi, which is one of their first points of contact to their culture as Africans.
