Ebat Letlhafula fest to celebrate 10 years

The festival aims to embrace the lifestyle of the northern people through promoting culture, tradition and heritage.

The NLCF has over the past nine years kept its promise of promoting cultural recognisation and preservation of the indigenous tribes in the northern part of the country, which are mainly dominated by the Kalanga.

Speaking to Showbiz the director of Ebat Consultants and organiser of NLCF, Ogomoditse Maruapula said that the celebration of the cultural festival would commemorate and appreciate the 50th anniversary of Botswana.

He mentioned that the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture (MYSC) would sponsor the event with performing arts.

Maruapula said that the crowd pullers Dinkwenkgoga traditional group would thrill the multitudes of revellers expected to throng the event.

He elaborated that the Seshashudi hitmakers, Dinkwenkgoga will entertain guests with other traditional groups of the likes of Dikgantshwane Tsa Setso traditional group, Milidzanani of the Mokomoto traditional group, Thokgamo choir from Tonota.

The organiser said that they will please their customers with mouthwatering traditional cuisine of morogo wa dinawa, chimune, delele, phane, makgomane, dobi, serobe sa kgomo, mabele, moretlwa traditional beer to name a few.

“Patrons will also take part in the traditional games such as morabaraba, koi and diketo amongst others. Stalls will be available for different organisations and individuals to showcase their services and products in relation to culture, pride and heritage,” he said.

Maruapula added that there will be an African/traditional attire parade in which a panel of judges will choose the best-dressed attendant. He said NLCF the theme this year is ‘Take pride in promoting Botswana culture and heritage’. He added that the theme is linked to that of BOT50, which is ‘proud and united’.

The organiser said that the chairman of BOT50 task team, Boyce Sebetlela and other dignitaries will grace the cultural festival.

Maruapula said that the patrons will be given an opportunity to evaluate, monitor and give feedback of the previous NLCF for the rebranding of the 11th edition of the cultural event.
