Boyfriend Charged With Sadistic 'Rape' By Broomstick

The 35-year-old Block 1 resident, who is employed as an End Control Checker at Sefalana Hyper, is alleged to have left his place of work on the morning of March 18 proceeding to Chedu Gas in Block 1 Shopping Complex where his girlfriend works.  He allegedly thereafter threatened to kill her based on his suspicion.

He allegedly further uttered the words: “It means that I should kill you because you are refusing to go home with me. Your boss will find your corpse here”.

In the second count, the State alleges that the man, who could not contain his rage and jealousy, raped his girlfriend by penetrating her genitals using a broken piece of wood from the broomstick without her consent after he threatened to kill her.

Sub-inspector, Cecilia Nchochi told Magistrate Cele Lebakeng that the plea of the accused should be reserved because investigations into the matters are still at their preliminary stages.

“We will also refer the matters to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for assessment of evidence. We therefore pray that the accused should be remanded in custody,” she added.

The accused, looking sickly and coughing continuously during a brief arraignment, proceeded to tell the court that he had an appointment with a doctor at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital in relation to his ailment and as such, prayed to court to be allowed to go in for a consult.

Magistrate Lebakeng then made an order to the police to make a hospital stop before sending the accused back to prison.

She said: “I can see that you are sick but I can’t help you”.

Lebakeng then asked the accused what could have possessed him to allegedly commit such a sadistic act to which he responded: “I didn’t use a broomstick to penetrate her.

I used my finger to penetrate her in order to check if she has had sexual intercourse with anyone. I wanted to check if she was penetrated and I discovered that she indeed had sex with someone”.The accused was remanded in custody and will appear in court on April 2, 2020.
