Kerebotswe's Worthy Cause Helps Female Inmates

Besides just helping prisoners, she has decided to commit to assisting the latter’s children who were born in prison as well as ex-inmates who struggle to successfully reintegrate into society, find work, and return to their families.
Being an independent young woman, Kerebotswe told The Monitor that she currently hosts events and the proceeds go to helping these individuals.
“I also go around asking companies and the community at large to sponsor this cause by donating clothes, toiletry and blankets,” she explained. Kerebotswe, through this amazing awakening to new hope and life purpose, said she grew up with the spirit of giving and helping those who cannot otherwise help themselves. However, Kerebotswe admitted that it was not easy to just go to prison and start this because there are channels to follow.
“Prisons acknowledged the work I was doing for ex-convicts because most of the people I had helped had never returned to prison,” she revealed. She said ex-convicts find it difficult to fit into the society. “Through this people who once broke the law are transformed and mobilised to serve their community, and the cycle of crime is replaced by a cycle of renewal. I have helped them to find business ideas and get jobs,” she highlighted.
Kerebotswe said she would like Batswana and everyone to help because life in prison is not fun for, especially, children who live there. She said there are children who were born in prison and they live there because society cannot accept them.
Kerebotswe added that institutions like SOS couldn’t accept all of these children because of space. She said so far she has been doing everything from her pocket to help wherever she can, but it can never be enough unless more people jump in.
“This is not for business, I just want to get involved and help. We don’t take money, we ask donors to buy whatever is needed and our job is to take it to those who need assistance,” she added.
Kerebotswe said she will be hosting an event soon in Francistown to raise funds for her cause.
