According to information reaching Mmegi Sport, the president took the decision without the involvement of other committee members. BBA public relations officer, Modisaotsile Badubi has also resigned. Speaking to Mmegi Sport yesterday, Badubi said it was difficult for him to work with a committee that did not care about the welfare of the members. He said it was not possible to have tournaments due to some challenges. He said there were no local tournaments for players that are not in the national team. Badubi said even national team players needed local tournaments to gauge themselves.
“The reason I could not continue being part of such a committee is entirely because of the tournament organiser and the treasurer. The treasurer would withhold funds for no reason, frustrating players during camps as well as frustrating other committee members,” said Badubi.
One of the members, speaking on condition of anonymity said the weekend meeting was called by the president to update them on the activities of the association. The source said the president failed to address sticking issues raised by the members, but instead blamed his committee.
“He said the committee was useless and sabotaging him. We asked him to show us the financial report and he failed to produce it. We asked if there was money in the bank account because we did not have activities. He said there was money without showing us proof,” the source said.
The member said they wanted the president to resign because they have lost trust in his leadership.
For her part, Seabe said to her knowledge she is still the treasurer. She said there has not been any communication to her about her removal from her position. Seabe said she did not attend the weekend meeting.
Contacted for comment, Mathumo said they are still discussing the issue internally and could only comment next week.
