BVF vice president, George Keotsenye told Mmegi Sport yesterday that the games organising committee met over the weekend to discuss the league fixtures. He said the fixtures are yet to be sent to clubs for endorsement.

Meanwhile, there have been some shocking player movements during the 2016 transfer window that closed on Friday.

Although several players had shown intention to move to different clubs, only a few transactions were confirmed by the BVF office. The biggest beneficiary has been BDF VI whose men and women’s teams made some decent signings.

The marquee movement of the season has to be that of Bokao ‘Btex’ Taukobong who moved from Spiking Stars to BDF VI. The national team star was also linked to a move to Police VI although the paperwork now shows he has settled for the army side. Before joining Stars, Taukobong played for Mafolofolo.

Joining him at BDF is Pastor Rebabonye who arrives from their former army brothers, Diphatsa of Francistown. Rebabonye also dons national colours and his experience together with that of Taukobong could set the army side on a warpath as they aim to reclaim their glory days.

On the other hand, BDF VI have lost their star player, Moemedi ‘Mojo’ Siphambe to blood rivals Police VI. The cops gave champions, Kutlwano a run for their money last season and with other unconfirmed names linked to the SSG-based side, they too could be on course for a successful season.

On the women’s side, BDF VI have been the busiest on the market and they look set to challenge for the league honours with the quality of players they have registered. In Sesha Matswiri from Kutlwano, they have made a kill as the petite lass is arguably the best setter in the country lately.

She has played a big part in the success of Kutlwano over the last couple of years and should easily claim another prime spot in the army women’s set up. Another great signing by BDF VI is Kutlwano’s versatile Ashley Harijezu who despite her talent was used as a fringe player at The Big House. She too should easily claim a first team spot in the army side that has also raided Spiking Stars for their star performers, Tebo Mokokwe and Patricia Moribame.  Gabaresepe Mashaole of Kalavango jumped ship and has gone to join championship contenders, Mafolofolo. Other transfers were yet to be confirmed by the BVF office but a number of players are said to have handed in resignations.
