Nkawana said after completing his studies last year, his artistic passion helped him come up with this concept trading under Creative Advertising, which he said, catered for almost everyone.

“After graduating I decided to create employment and be my own boss,” he said. “As an artist I decided to come up with a totally different concept in line with my profession. When brainstorming, I thought of motorcycles and cars but then realised that it would not reach my target audience.”

Nkawana said then he chose to do mobile advertising using bicycles and people as walking billboards, noting that they are eco-friendly and have a tolerant speed that will give people some time to read the advert and inquire.

“Usually advertising with billboards at times does not reach all the target audience, you would find that mostly some people do not even use that route and the same applies to the television adverts, as some do not even watch that channel, so chances of missing out on the advert are high,” he said.To date, Creative Advertising has three clients, which includes Botswana Unified Revenue Services (BURS), About Beds and Wealth Point. Every day, Nkawana’s business uses six bicycles going to different parts of Gaborone at peak hours to target people at traffic lights and along the roads.

Creative Advertising also engages freelancers to walk with billboards and flyers near malls to pass the message to potential clients. He said he intended to penetrate the Francistown market and other towns as part of their campaigns to sensetise the companies about his unique business.
