BCP grabs BDP big fish.

Though the rally started later than planned because of heavy rainfall, which nearly ruined the whole event, the BCP was jubilant to welcome Ramogapi and his 300 electorates who were mostly youth.

A jubilant BCP president Dumelang Saleshando applauded Ramogapi and other new members saying they had made the right decision. He said seasons had changed hence people must introspect and make the right decisions.

“Make the right move and never look back because the BDP sins are overwhelming. Instead of leading the people by example, they do the opposite.

As you can witness for yourselves, they do not take their children to government schools or hospitals but rather private schools and hospitals because they know that they are failing the children of Batswana,” he said.

He said there are countries where government schools pass more than private schools.

Saleshando said the BDP is always telling people that all shall be well. He said that phrase is an insult to Batswana because it means that “we have given up, we will do nothing”.

He said nothing can be well when the right decisions are not taken, adding that it shall be well when Domkrag is no more.

He said the BDP has run out of tactics as they are now calling into duty grey haired BDP veterans like the former vice president, Ponatshego Kedikilwe who had already failed the country.

Saleshando also announced the BCP’s resolution of joining the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC). He explained that they believe they should work together going forward. He added that though they once tried and failed, they have learnt something from their failure.

“Our failure cost us in the 2014 general elections, so we have learnt from our mistake. Batswana demonstrated to us what they wanted in those elections. If we had joined the UDC before the elections, we would have won the elections.

“BDP has divided the country because they say they have taken a decision that only those who obey them shall obtain government top positions. That’s killing the country because most of the educated people are not BDP. So our decision to work with the UDC is a way of paving the way for Batswana,” said Saleshando.

He urged those who are still at BDP who wish to shift to do so while there is still time, to help the party fight the BDP. Saleshando also said people must introspect as the country is celebrating 50 years of independence. He said Batswana must question themselves how Bot50 celebrations reflects them as well.

“Ask yourself if the diamonds have contributed anything to your life, look at your payslip and ask yourself if it reflects that the country is turning 50. The country is proud to be celebrating 50 years, but there is still no peace in the country because other people are unemployed,” he added.

For his part, Ramogapi said corruption in the BDP has kicked him out of the party. He said Batswana are suffering because of unemployment while BDP top dogs are getting rich out of corruption. He said the ruling party is making Batswana slaves by making them work for free through internship programmes and Tirelo Sechaba.

“BDP is corrupt and they are doing it nonetheless even though they know it’s wrong. People are always told that there are no jobs while others are full of corruption and misusing government funds,” he said.

Member of Parliament (MP) for Francistown South, Wynter Mmolotsi, congratulated Ramogapi and his team saying the BDP angers, manipulates and corrupts everyone in the country.

He said the time has come for people to move from the BDP family saying he was also once an active BDP member but abandoned it due to its corruption. He said the opposition is ready to take over government in 2019, hence called on people’s support.

“We want to take government in 2019, with many wards and constituencies. We want the BDP to remain with only one ward which is Serowe North.

We do not want them to have more than four MPs so that they cannot even have a leader of opposition in Parliament.

There are so many internal squabbles in the BDP which can only be managed by the Seretse family,” Mmolotsi said.

He said the BDP runs the country in a shameful way because they are denying people employment opportunities as they are preparing for themselves so that when they retire they will not suffer.
