The revelation came yesterday in court in a case in which Mmathethe village chief, Daniel Mathiba’s two sons, together with other two men are suspected to have murdered a Zimbabwean man, John Ngwenya.

The prosecutor in the case, Sub Inspector Serame of Goodhope police station, said they have since learnt that the accused person, Gindra Stegline’s names were not real.

“We have learnt that the first accused person’s real names are Ronald Mothupi not Gindra Stegline as he had earlier told the police,” Serame said. The accused person admitted that the names Gindra Stegline were not real but he could not justify further.

Serame further said investigations are still underway and they are awaiting forensic laboratory results.

The accused person, who is representing himself, was admitted for bail on March 7. However the accused person is still remanded in custody since he has not yet met the bail conditions.

Ofentse Mathiba (28), Tumediso Mathiba (34) of Mmathethe village, together with ‘Gindra Stegling’ (19), a herd boy at Mmalore lands and Thato Keosaletse (23) of Kanye face one count of murder.

The four accused persons are alleged to have murdered a Zimbabwean man, John Ngwenya, on the night of January 26 at Mmalore lands allegedly for ritual purposes.

Ngwenya’s body was discovered at Mmalore lands on January 26 with several injuries. Mathiba’s sons were then arrested on February 8 in connection with the incident.
